The rated voltage must match the system voltage to properly isolate during faults.
For breaking capacity, consider the maximum fault level of the power source and the circuit characteristics. The MCCB should be able to safely interrupt the maximum prospective short circuit current. For motor loads, also consider the inrush current when selecting the rated current. The number of poles also depends on the phase system. These factors should be carefully checked according to the system conditions and load requirements.
Installation of MCCBs
After selecting the proper MCCB, the installation process also significantly impacts its performance. The following points should be noted during installation.
Circuit connection. The MCCB should be connected according to the phase sequence or wiring diagram. The line and load terminals must be securely tightened to avoid loose contacts. For 3-phase 4-wire systems, the neutral wire should be properly connected.
Mounting position. The MCCB should be installed in an upright position on the wall or in the cabinet. The center of gravity should be considered to ensure stability. Enough air circulation space should also be left around the MCCB for heat dissipation.
Protection from harsh environments. When installed in humid, corrosive or dusty environments, the MCCB should have additional protection. Use a cabinet or protective cover and apply water-proof or anti-corrosive treatment as needed.
Accessibility. The MCCB should be installed in a location accessible for visual inspection, testing and maintenance. Sufficient space should be left in front of the MCCB for manual operation of the handle.
Tightness. All supporting bolts and connections should be tightened securely to avoid excess vibration. The MCCB door or cabinet should also close properly to exclude foreign objects.
